Jimmy Garoppolo Given Green Light to Start Training Camp with the Raiders, According to AP Insider

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — According to a reliable source, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has successfully passed a physical examination for his previously injured left foot. As a result, he is all set to kick off the training camp with the Las Vegas Raiders. The news was shared with The Associated Press on Sunday by an individual who requested anonymity as an official announcement is yet to be made. The eagerly awaited training camp is scheduled to commence on Wednesday.

Due to his foot injury, Garoppolo refrained from participating in organized team activities. Nonetheless, Coach Josh McDaniels consistently expressed confidence that the newly acquired quarterback would be fully prepared for the upcoming training camp.

At the time, McDaniels stated, “We’re always going to err at this time of the year on being smart. We don’t play a football game for 3 1/2 months, so try to rush (players) out there in May, it’s a poor decision.”

Garoppolo finalized a lucrative three-year, $72.75 million deal as a free agent on March 17. However, the announcement of his contract was delayed compared to other signings due to concerns surrounding his foot condition.

To provide the Raiders with flexibility in case Garoppolo, who has a history of injuries, wasn’t fully recovered, he reportedly signed a waiver instead of undergoing a physical examination.

His injury was sustained late in the previous season while playing for the San Francisco 49ers.
