A Man Remembered for His Kindness and Humour

Family members describe David using four simple words: thoughtful, kind, considerate and funny. These qualities defined how he lived his life, whether spending time with loved ones or enjoying the friendships he built through bowls.

A Lifetime on the Bowls Green

David’s notice opens not with his family, but with his clubs: Ex Skewen, Tick-Tock and Earlswood Bowls Clubs. That ordering matters. For a man who spent decades on the green, bowls was not a pastime tucked into retirement. It was a thread that ran through his entire adult life.

Across three different clubs, David will have built friendships measured in decades, not years. The kind of community that knows exactly how someone takes their tea, exactly how they bowl under pressure, and exactly what kind of person they are when the match is close.

Thoughtful, Kind, Considerate and Funny

David’s family chose four words to describe him directly: thoughtful, kind, considerate and funny. It is rare for an obituary to include a character description this specific. And rarer still for it to feel so completely earned by everything else in the notice.

He was a caring person, always putting others first, and his family make clear that this was not an occasional quality but a defining one. David always put his family first, and took great pleasure simply in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

David Williams’ Family Legacy

Devoted Husband of the Late Marion

David was the much-loved husband of the late Marion Williams. Their marriage was the foundation of a family that grew, over the decades, into something genuinely large and close.

Father and Father-in-Law

He was the loving father of Martin, Norman Maldwyn and David, and the wonderful father-in-law of Jacqueline, Sahra and Michelle. Three sons and three daughters-in-law who clearly valued him as much as his own children did.

A Cherished Bampa

As dad and Bampa to Christopher, Jerry, Stacey, Jesca, Stephen, Levi, Emily and Chloe, David held the role that, by his family’s own account, brought him his greatest pleasure.

Great-Grandfather of Seven

He was the much-loved great-grandfather of Ella-Rose, Ralphi, Florie, Carys, Kian, Indie and Raya, seven great-grandchildren who got to know a man still finding joy in family at 87.
